Bally’s Playboy is one of the early solid-state games from 1978. Similar to many late-70’s and early 80’s Bally games, Playboy has an asymmetrical playfield with bunnies featured everywhere.

Playboy features three pop bumpers, one bank of five drop targets, one bank of six standup targets, and a kick-back lane on the left-hand side of the playfield which advances every time. The game offers nice ball flow with a loop running above the jet bumpers into the kick-back lane.

The backglass depicts Hugh Hefner with two playmates – 1976 Playmate Patti McGuire and 1977 Playmate Sondra Theodore, both of whom also appear on the playfield along with a number of others.

Playboy has a straight-forward rule set that offers a challenge to beginners and advanced players. The game allows up to four players and it set to regenerate credits so that quarters are not required. Please call or e-mail us for more pictures or with any questions.

Classic Western-themed Pinball

Flipper Cowboy is a classic 1960’s pinball machine. It features pop bumpers, targets, and a spinning roto-target that changes numbers every time it is hit.

As with most of the Gottlieb games from the early to mid 1960’s it features the great, clean artwork of Roy Parker. The animated backbox contains a cowboy with a pistol shooting at a target. The target spins when shot and the bell rings. Characters in western-style dress decorate the glass and playfield.

Flipper Cowboy is an add-a-ball game. Each game starts with five balls, but the players have an opportunity to earn extra balls throughout the game. The back glass illuminates the number of balls to play – up to 10. The object of the game is to collect as many numbers in a row as possible. Four in a row provides one extra ball and one extra ball for every additional number.

During the restoration process, cleaned and polished the playfield and plastics. We added new lights and new rubber rings as well as new bumper caps and new numbered-decals on the roto-target. In addition, we polished the coin door and strike plate. The playfield and back glass are in great shape.

Williams first pinball machine with speech, Gorgar has a limited vocabulary (only 7 words!), but it caused quite a stir. With racy artwork and a heartbeat background sound that steadily increases during play, the game draws a lot of attention.

Gorgar features two flippers, three pop bumpers, two sets of drop targets and a magnet under the playfield – the Snake Pit. The magnet holds the ball in place while Gorgar adds up the score.

Gorgar is a fun, fast game with creepy artwork and the classic Williams sound effects. The game allows up to four players and it set to regenerate credits so that quarters are not required. Please call or e-mail us for more pictures or with any questions.

Explore Central Park

Central Parkis a classic 1960’s pinball machine. It features four pop bumpers and ten stand-up targets.
The game has two flippers at the top of the playfield, but these are stationary.

As with most of the Gottlieb games from the early to mid 1960’s it features the great, clean artwork of Roy Parker. The backglass depicts Central Park with numerous characters in the fore ground gathered to watch an organ grinder and a couple taking a carriage ride. Skyscrapers can be seen in the background beyond the park.

The backglass features an organ grinder monkey with a hammer that rings the bell every one hundred points. Stand-up targets along the top of the playfield advance the bonus as each set is completed. Yellow and green bonus lights in the center of the playfield keep track of the progress up through the Special.

Central Parkis a replay game. (Hurdy Gurdy is the add-a-ball version of this game.) Each game starts
with five balls, and the player earns replays by advancing the bonus through the Special.

Central Park is a one-player game suitable for all ages. The game has been configured for free
play. Please call or e-mail with any questions or for more photos.

Bowling Queen is a classic 1960’s pinball machine. It features four pop bumpers near the top, stand-up targets at the top and near the center of the playfield, and rollovers throughout.

Bowling Queen is a replay game. As the game is played, the player racks up red and white balls in the black glass.

A Clean Subway?

Cross Town is a classic 1960’s pinball machine. It features four pop bumpers, two dead bumpers, targets, and a stand-up target in the center of the playfield that awards big points if both the red and yellow columns are both at the same level.

As with most of the Gottlieb games from the late 1960’s and early 1970’s it features the crisp, family-friendly artwork of Art Stenholm. The lower playfield has scenes of people reading on the subway and sitting in the subway cars. The center of the playfield shows people riding the escalator to the subway with skyscrapers above.

Cross Town is a replay game with an animated backbox – the subway car doors open and close. (Subway is the add-a-ball version) The game can be set to start with three or five balls. It is the last Gottlieb production game to have a manual ball-lift.

Cross Town is a one-player game suitable for all ages. The game has been configured for free play. Please call or e-mail with any questions.

It’s a Beauty

Sittin’ Pretty is a wonderful wood rail pinball machine from 1958. The warm oak trim surrounds a colorful glass depicting a carnival game setting with the lovely lady on a swing suspended by balloons overlooking a test of skill game. A roller coaster dominates the background.

Created before rolling score wheels, the game displays the player’s score by illuminating values ranging from tens to hundreds of thousands in rows across the glass and millions in the multi-colored balloons overhead.

As with most of the Gottlieb games from the late 1950’s and early to mid 1960’s it features the great, clean artwork of Roy Parker. As the game is played, the lighting behind the glass shows different clowns falling into carnival dunk tanks.

The playfield features four pop bumpers, four dead bumpers and roto-target in the center of the playfield. Hitting the numbers on the roto-target knocks down the clowns in the dunk tanks. Players earn replays for getting multiple clowns in row. The player also earns replays for high scores.

Sittin Pretty is a one-player game suitable for all ages. Please call or e-mail with any questions or for more pictures.

Midwest Pinball recently completed the restoration of a great shuffle alley bowler – Williams Gold Mine. Gold Mine is a six-player shuffle alley puck bowler. Players slide a metal puck down the alley to trigger switches that flip up the bowling pins. The pins automatically reset for each player and each frame.

Gold Mine allows for up to six players and features five games:

- Regulation – scoring is identical to official bowling

- Gold Mine – scoring is like Regulation; however, in each frame with a Strike or Spare, the player gets a Bonus Shot.

- Super Strike – the player scores 90 for a Strike and one frame of Flash for extra points.

- Strike-90 – the player receives 90 points for a Strike and keeps playing as long as the Strikes continue.

- Flash – the player receives the higher value of flashing scores for a Strike and the lower value of the flashing Scores for a Spare. A “blown frame” scores the total downed pin count after the second shot.

The overall dimensions for the bowler are roughly 8 ½ feet long (104 inches), 6 feet tall (72 inches), and 2 ¼ feet wide (28 inches). The game can be dis-assembled for delivery.

This bowler has been completely restored. The restored game features new plastic pins, a new metal front frame, and new rubber pads. In addition, the cabinet has been freshly re-painted with the original design. Please call or e-mail us for more pictures or with questions.
