March 2015 – In The Shop: Gottlieb Cue Ball Wizard

Pool-themed games never go out of date. Gottlieb Cue Ball Wizard is a fun game with a good mix of short and long shots and a bit of randomness thrown in by placing a cue ball on the playfield. While this game was in very good shape when it arrived, it did need a good cleaning and a few new targets. As with other Gottlieb games from the mid-90’s, Cue Ball Wizard uses special piezo film-backed targets. Fortunately these are readily available from our friends at The Pinball Resource.

Once the game was working 100%, we tackled the cabinet. At some point this game had been wrapped up for storage using packing tape. The tape had pulled away thin strips of paint from the cabinet and backbox. We carefully touched up the paint and restored it to its original design.
